The Broad is one of the most famous contemporary art museums located in Downtown Los Angeles. The name of the museum is after the philanthropist Eli and Edythe Broad. The museum was launched in the year 2015, September 20th by the Broads and it attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors all around the world annually. They have almost 2000 collections of art in their broad collection that features more than 200 artists. They have the world’s largest collection of contemporary and postwar art created by many big contemporary artists. This $140 million three-story museum has a very big exhibition space on two floors of around 50,000 square feet. 35,000 square feet of column-free gallery on the third floor and 15,000 square feet first floor. The whole building was designed by architecture Diller Scofidio + Renfro and architect Walter Hood designed the landscape of this building.
This white color architecture is completely different and unique than any building that you may have seen till now. The museum does not only look amazing from the outside but inside as well. The General admission tickets are always free and you can book tickets in advance to get a timely entry without wasting any time.
With General tickets, you can not access special exhibitions and events as they both are for paid tickets. Tickets can be booked from their website directly which is more easy and saves a lot of time. To book advance online tickets do it 2-3 months in advance During the inauguration exhibition at the Broads more than 250 painting, photographs, and sculptures were featured which was created by over 60 major artists including Richard Artschwager, Anselm Kiefer, Yayoi Kusama, Cindy Sherman, Kara Walker, Takashi Murakami, Jeff Koons, Christopher Wool, Robert Longo, and many more.
There are a few things that you must remember during the visit to The Broad like you can see any art but it is not allowed to touch it, smoking is strictly not allowed inside the museum, children of all ages are allowed but children under 13 should come along with their parent or an adult, put your smartphones or any device on silent as it will disturb others, you should wear proper formal clothes which include shirts and shoes till the time you are in the museum if you do not wear proper attire as per the instruction or then The Broad have all the rights to deny admission or remove that person from the museum.
